Research Interests

Advancements in Omics technologies enable us to study mechanisms involved in several cellular and molecular processes. Our group is interested in developing bioinformatics methods to study omics data and integrate omics data to reveal pathways using system biology-based approaches. Our current projects are focused on four main interests:

Rare Diseases– Developing methods to integrate several types of omics data to reveal pathways involved in disease aetiology. We also develop methods to identify individualized potential therapy candidates based on the key driver pathway information

Personalized Medicine (Cancer Applications)- We are involved in several international projects to develop new methods to study driver pathways involved in cancer development. We also study drug resistance mechanisms using individualized omics data.

Single Cell Omics Data analysis- to study chromatin biology in stem cells, early embryos, and reprogramming, including the modelling of human neurological, chromatin-related diseases with bioinformatics, epigenetics/epigenomics, and systems biology approaches at the population and single-cell level.

MHC_Peptide Binding; Antigenetic Variation- A long-standing interest of our group is to study rules that govern the Peptide selectivity of Major Histocompatibility Complex to understand the mechanisms that govern antigenic variation, a process that allows trypanosomes to escape the host immune response. We aim to analyze omics data from trypanosomes to reveal the factors involved in immune escape mechanisms.
