About me
“Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence” This quote by Abigail Adams sums up my approach to not just education but life in totality. I believe it is curiosity and perseverance to learn that allows one to benefit from the abundance of information available worldwide. I have always been fascinated with basic sciences. To pursue my intrigue in basic sciences, I joined IISER Pune and carried out several projects in and outside India. My academic and research background has whetted my appetite to continue in the field of biology, and I decided to embark on a PhD program in parasite biology. Therefore, I applied to the Cell2Cell PhD program as the projects and theme of this program perfectly aligns with my interest. Cutting edge and state-of-the-art technology at the LMU and other associated institutes will be instrumental in shaping my thesis and, ultimately, my career path. Furthermore, I would also have the excellent opportunity of interacting with professionals and experienced individuals in the field, which will help me to grow as an individual and scientist.
My long-term ambition is to have a career in Biology academia. I would like to continue research in parasite biology to understand the host-pathogen interaction at the molecular level and develop new tools required for the treatment of parasitic infections. Ultimately, I want to strive to popularize science in all parts of society.
My lab is situated in Bavaria’s capital Munich which has many science institutes, museums, old architectural buildings, beer gardens and places for leisure activities. By being located in the center of Europe, it also becomes easier to travel across Europe from Munich. I love traveling and spending time outdoors, and after living in Munich for more than a year now, I believe Munich is a perfect place for doing a PhD.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant number 860675.
